Elisapie Isaac (MTL)

There Will Be Stars, Elisapie Isaac’s first official release as a solo artist, is yet another bright star amidst a constellation of success. In the last decade, she has acted as the singer for the acclaimed folk duo Taima, worked as a journalist and host for a variety of Inuit media outlets and directed an award winning short film entitled If Weather Permits, exploring the collide of Inuit culture and the modern world. Her roots as a young Inuit woman continue to shine through in her latest work, a tender and personal exploration of love, loss and finding one’s place in this world. The songs are sweet and self-assured, ranging from glistening upbeat pop to more introspective, pensive ballads. Singing in both her native Inuktituk and English, her voice has a powerful appeal in any language.
